Peer Review Process

PPRJ endorses the double blind peer-review process, in order to assess the quality of submitted manuscripts: reviewers do not know the names of the authors, and authors do not know who reviewed their manuscript.

Independent researchers assess submitted manuscripts for relevance, novelty and originality, and methodological & interpretative quality. Editors base their final decision about publication after a minimum of two independent reviewers' assessment.

Overall editorial responsibility for the journal is with the involved Associate Editors, Consultant Editors (if necessary) and with the Editor-in-Chief. Authors willing to appeal a rejection or make a complaint should contact the Editor-in-Chief, who will provide details of the journal's process and/or decision's rational.

Advised standards of reporting

Authors should adhere to quality-standard guidelines when drafting their manuscript. Peer reviewers will be asked to refer to standard checklists when evaluating manuscripts:
- Randomized controlled trials (CONSORT) and protocols (SPIRIT)
- Systematic reviews & meta-analyses* (PRISMA) and protocols (PRISMA-P)
- Observational studies (STROBE)
- Case reports (CARE)
- Qualitative research (COREQ)
- Diagnostic/prognostic studies (STARD and TRIPOD)
- Economic evaluations (CHEERS)
- Pre-clinical animal studies (ARRIVE)

Publication Frequency

In PPRJ, journal items (editorial, papers, letters to the editor) will be published collectively, as part of an issue with its own Table of Contents, with a frequency of two to three issues per year.

Open Access Policy

PPRJ provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

More about PPRJ

The Psychologist: Practice & Research Journal (PPRJ) was created in July 2017, having its first issue at the third trimester of 2017, and with a periodicity of two issues per year.

This journal disseminates psychological-related scientific research and evidence-based knowledge about psychological practice. Although the main interest of the journal remains on applied psychology, experimental, clinical, or epidemiological knowledge are obviously welcomed.

We are willing to provide a high-quality review process to any researcher who submits manuscripts to PPRJ. We hope that this journal is seen as a preferential platform for sharing research that follows any kind of design approach.

Considering the fact that PPRJ is a free-to-publish and open-access journal, this is an outstanding platform for sharing ideas and evidence, for both research and psychological practice.

The main sections of the journal are:

- Editorial note

- Original research, including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods. Clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses are priorities for PPRJ.

- Study protocols. This type of manuscripts enter a fast track system

- Reports and guidelines (namely, blue or white papers, task force or joint action reports, intervention/clinical norms from associations or official entities)

- Clinical cases and innovative clinical interventions

- Book or other works (manuals, courses, training programs, DVD, websites, blogs, etc.)
